Nexus Literary Journal has a rich history at Wright State University, dating back to the mid-1960s. Nexus began as a one-page insert and grew into a nationally recognized creative journal that accepted poetry, fiction work, and art of all kinds. Over the years, Nexus has published well-recognized poets and writers, both local and national, as well as staff members and advisors who are recognized in the creative community.

Nexus took a brief break during the beginnings of the COVID-19 pandemic but will resume online publishing in 2021. It is open to submissions for Wright State University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and others with a direct affiliation to the university. Reading periods will be announced at the beginning of each academic year.

With our reopening comes a brand new publishing schedule to which we aim to adhere for the foreseeable future. We will publish a digital issue of Nexus online once a year, during Spring semester, which will include submissions from Spring and from the prior Fall.

“When you create something, you join this community, and it’s all about encouraging, feeding off of and helping each other. It makes you more confident in what you’re doing, and having this literary journal is a way to allow people to get their work out there and get feedback.”
-Former Editor Zachary Moore during an interview with Wright State University's newspaper The Wright State Guardian
